Less than half (43 percent) of the students asked disagree that the First Amendment goes too far in the rights it guarantees. However, the majority of both teachers (66 percent) and principals (72 percent) disagree that the First Amendment goes too far in the rights it guarantees. Based on the 2004 State of the First Amendment survey, the national adult population lines up much closer to the teachers and faculty, with 65 percent disagreeing that the First Amendment goes too far in the rights it guarantees.
