While the Student Press Law Center's legal staff is able to handle almost every request for help out of its Arlington,
Virginia office, those contacting the Center occasionally require local representation. To serve the needs of the student
press community, most of whom do not have the resources to pay for individual legal counsel, the SPLC maintains a formal
Attorney Referral Network (ARN). Members of the ARN have agreed to provide pro bono legal representation to the student
media in their area. Many of our volunteers are also available to conduct media law workshops or seminars. All referrals
are coordinated through the SPLC. To date, the SPLC Attorney Referral Network numbers approximately 150 lawyers located
throughout the country.
